Nokia releases Symbian-based E7 to Optus and Vodafone

Nokia has released its Symbian OS –based smartphone, the Nokia E7, to Optus and Vodafone. The Finnish mobile phone vendor had previously flagged plans to ditch the Symbian OS its primary smartphone platform, choosing instead to move forward with Microsoft’s Windows 7 phone OS. E7 uses the new Symbian^3 platform.

Aimed squarely at business users, The QWERTY keyboard E7 carries a 4-inch AMOLED touchscreen, an 8-megapixel camera with flash which can also capture high-definition (HD) video. It supports real-time access to emails through Microsoft’s Exchange server. With Microsoft Office on-board, users can edit Word, PowerPoint and Excel documents on the go. Adobe PDFs can also be viewed on the device.
