Motorola’s Xoom is set to compete with Apple’s iPad. The Xoom comes with front and rear facing cameras, one that records in HD, and has a larger screen than the iPad, with higher resolution. The Xoom supports Adobe Flash, and uses Verizon’s network and will be the first device to run the latest version of Google’s Android operating system, known as Honeycomb. The Xoom will be available in stores during the first quarter of this year in 3G form, which will be capable of being upgraded to 4G later in the year.

Nintendo 3DS

The Nintendo 3DS, which will be released in March, allows users to play 3D video games without having to use 3D glasses. It offers a 3D slide adjuster the customize the 3D effect for a more intense 3D experience or to eliminate it alltogether. It also features two camera lenses to take 3D photos and a Street Pass which allows the 3DS to communicate with other 3Ds devices that you pass by on the street or in your home. The Nintendo 3DS is also compatible with Nintendo DS games.

GL20 Camera Glasses

The GL20 Camera Glasses, which will be released later this year, are part of a Grey Label lineup of Lady Gaga-inspired products by Polaroid (see the rest below). The glasses contain a camera and 1.5-inch OLED screens that can capture and display images and video to people around you. They also have a USB key in the earpiece so imagery can be transferred to a computer and uploaded to the Internet.

Apple leads the pack with news of the release of the IPhone 5. The sleek new look comes with face recognition capabilities. The OLED screen has 64 gigs of memory. Not only this, the GPS system allows you to sync your phone with your iTunes software, and to also get SMS alerts that are fully customizable. Imagine ringtones that have HD level audio. Imagine no more. You can even use your IPhone 5 to chat on video on a 3G smartphone. The OLED screen is scratch resistant, and its resolution has the most highly advanced chips with a dual core processor. You can watch your local tv channels on IPhone 5, and with its built-in Pico projector, you can put meeting presentations on your phone and show it on a flat surface, such as a wall or screen.

Also by Polaroid, this 15-ounce brushed metal device can produce Polaroid-style prints in under a minute. It can link to phones through Bluetooth or cameras and PCs through USB. The printer is ink-free and uses heat to colorize crystals on 3x4-inch Zink Imaging glossy, tear-proof photo paper. The printer can print up to 40 photos with the rechargeable battery is charged to its fullest. Filters and borders will be available to customize images. The printer will be available in May for $149.99.

The product is a completely self-contained go-kart game with two carts, a 2 metre track, two controllers, a stop watch and a 9V battery block for 5 hours gaming power. Pleese don't ask why it is being sold in such a gorgeous aluminium briefcase as that is their little secret.

LG Shows Off ‘Tweet-TV’ Integrated Mobile DTV Handset

It seems as though social networking is making itself a part of every bit of our daily lives. Be it through easier sharing of information through integration with news apps, communications from corporate heads, or clicking a button to share what song your listening to, the medium has become almost synonymous with modern web-based technology. LG is looking to carry that idea even further with its latest mobile DTV (digital television) prototype handset and its “Tweet-TV” integration. As though the cool factor of an Android-based DTV packing phone wasn’t enough, LG has included programming in the DTV app to pull Twitter updates related to what you’re watching and display them on the screen. Now, granted, the accuracy of this has yet to be verified, and it is yet to be seen if this can be made actually useful…but as a geek, I’m always interested when technologies merge into something unique. LG will be demonstrating this handset at the National Association of Broadcasters this week, so we’ll see how warmly it’s received by the tech community.
