The first Color E-Ink reader to have touchscreen from Hanvon

E-readers have been around for a while now; however their main disadvantage was their black and white picture. Doesn’t sound like a problem however when they equip the device with 3G, Wi-Fi and what not you want it to show the real colors of the web pages when you surf the web. The other thing I would like to have from a device like this is a touch screen. The new e-reader from Hanvon combines both features and completes the symphony with a big 10 inch screen.

Although 10 inches is a great size there is still a problem with the color on these screens. E Ink display is not able to give you a great crisp picture as you would have on a LCD screen. The picture is like… it’s like you are looking at a faded color photo. The other problem about color E Ink displays is that it can’t really show you motion video. Its maximum is simple animations with not a lot of movement going on.

However, it’s still a color picture and all the needed connectivity presented via 3G and Wi-Fi.

Here is one small difficulty for the international customers, Havon color e-reader is on sale only in China and there is no info about it heading to Europe or States. The price of this device is starting at $440. Hope it comes to US, however in the mean time you can look on Amazon for some other readers.
