Ion Book Saver Might Save Your Back, But It Probably Won’t Save You Time (video)
Some books are precious keep sakes while others weigh as much as a gym dumbell. Enter the Ion Book Saver. It digitizes any book or magazine reducing your backpacks pay load or the possibility of destroying a book in transport.
The device is actually pretty rudimentary in effect. It consists of a custom designed frame and stand that sports two cameras with a built-in flash. Unfortunately, and this is the rub, there is NO robot arm to automatically turn the pages and capture the content. Nope, you’ll be left flipping one page after the other and manually snapping images by pressing the scan button. The images are stored to an SD card which then can presumably be transferred to a laptop or an e-reader of your choice.
The Book Saver will launch sometime later this year for $149.99.
